Central UMC Monroe

Central Children is the Children’s Ministry of Central, a safe, fun, and faith-filled space where all children from birth
through 5th grade feel welcome, valued, and excited to grow in Christian community together.

Our ministry is rooted in the belief that every child is uniquely created and deeply loved by God.
Through age-appropriate programs, interactive lessons, and meaningful relationships, we help kids discover God’s love,
grow in their faith, and build lasting friendships. We strive to create opportunities for every child to connect with God,
with one another, and with the world around them.

As a Safe Sanctuaries community, we are committed to maintaining a secure and nurturing environment where all children can thrive.

Sunday Morning Opportunities

Children's Worship

This takes place each Sunday after the Children’s Message during each Service. This worship service just for kids includes Children’s Message follow-up, scripture, music and prayer time. Open play is always a part of Children's Worship as it allows children the opportunity to simply be themselves in a Christian environment. Plus, a little fun time is always a good thing!

Sunday School

This takes place each Sunday between the Services from 10:00-10:45 A.M. . We have separate classrooms for the nursery, preschool and a one-room Sunday school program for Kindergarten – 5th graders.

Acolytes

Bringing the light of Christ into worship is a privilege and an honor. Central Children have the opportunity to acolyte each Sunday during both services, as well as in other special services throughout the year. Contact Erica Kirby if your child is interested in serving in this capacity.

Children's Messages

These small, yet powerful messages follow the scripture and sermon theme for the week and are led by Mrs. Erica each week during both services.

Other Opportunities & Special Events

Celebration Singers

Celebration Singers is our children's choir for kids in grades K–5, where young voices come together to praise God through joyful music. Through singing, movement, and fun, children grow in faith and confidence while preparing to lead in worship throughout the year.

Jr. Youth

Jr. Youth is designed to help bridge the gap between the Children's and Youth ministries. They meet from 4:00-6:00 on Sunday evenings with the Youth group. Jr. Youth is designed only for 5th graders.

Vacation Bible School

For 1-week during the June children are invited for an evening of music, crafts, bible stories, games and more. This is always a favorite time for our kids. Volunteers are always needed to lead small groups, stations and large group time. Save the Date for VBS 2026! (June 22-25, 2026)

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is a fun and safe fall event where families from our church and community gather as volunteers decorate their car trunks and hand out candy. Children enjoy costumes, games, and a festive atmosphere in a welcoming environment.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt is a joyful celebration for children and families, featuring egg hunts, crafts, and seasonal fun. It’s a chance for kids to play, laugh, and learn about the hope of Easter in a welcoming church setting.
