United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.
Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.
Methodist Women are very active in the missions of the community and the church.
Membership in Central United Methodist Church does not automatically make a woman a member of United Methodist Women. Women actively choose to get involved and join the unit.
One joins UMW by committing to our purpose through participation in meetings, prayer, study, giving, action, and service. Our gift to missions in 2011 was over $10,000.
Programs are planned to include all four emphases stated in our purpose: Spiritual Growth, Social Action, Education and Interpretation, and Membership and Outreach.
We welcome all women who choose to join, attend our programs and grow with UMW. In addition to four general meetings and a variety of other activities scheduled for all members, we have smaller sub-groups or “Circles” that meet monthly and supplement the programs of the larger local unit. These circles are the backbone of our unit. We encourage circle membership for the benefits of the close friendships, fellowship, communication and support that these groups provide but respect the decisions of members who choose to participate individually as “members at-large” of the local unit.
Arrange a visit to a circle meeting by calling a Circle Chair listed below or any circle member. To join as a member at-large contact the Membership Chair.
